Several factors might cause your device to not appear in Windows Explorer. Ask yourself or your System Administrator, "What has recently changed with my computer or the environment it runs in?"

To resolve this issue, try the following:

  1. Plug the device directly into your computer's USB port (do not use a USB hub).

  2. Plug the device into another computer on another network.

  3. Start the computer in Safe Mode (XP-http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222, Vista-http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/windows/en-us/help/323ef48f-7b93-4079-a48a-5c58eec904a11033.mspx). If that helps, use msconfig.exe (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310560) to troubleshoot which program is blocking the device from mounting.

  4. If on a network with mapped drives, either un-map the drives first before plugging in the device OR try the device on a computer outside of the network. Always ensure a drive letter gap exists between the logical drives and the network drives when mounting the device.

  5. If the IronKey CD-ROM USB Device drive has Windows error 19, 31, 38, 39, or 41 in Device Manager please review this Article.
